Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Retail Install Boot-132 Method
This guide only covers up to 10.6.1 Please do not update past that unless you know how to proceed.
Alright, I know a lot of you have been waiting for this so here it is.
Alright to start off with I have made two boot-132 cd’s.
BootSLv3.iso: Contains all of the Extra’s you need to make a quick install
BootSLv3-nowifi.iso: This is for those of you with the “Still Waiting for Root Device” problem.
BootSLv3-NoExtra.iso: Doesn’t have any Extras and will only be able to boot you into the install disk.
Let’s get started
Step 1: Make sure you have your copy of Snow Leopard (I would highly suggest purchasing it, it’s a great price for what it offers!)
Step 2: Download BootSL.iso and burn it to a CD.
Step 3: Put the burned boot cd into your cd-drive and on startup at the “DELL” splash screen press “F12″ now you will be at the boot selection menu, from here wait till your activity light on your cd-drive stops blinking and boot from the disk.
Step 4: Eject the boot-132 disk and replace it with your Snow Leopard Disk and again, wait till the activity light stops blinking. Once it’s stopped press “F5″ and the Install Disk will appear. Boot the disk with the boot flags “-v -x” you do this by simply typing -v -x. If you see it at the bottom left corner then you did it right, just hit enter. The disk will take about 5-10 min to load.
Step 5: Once in the install disk go to “Tools” from the menu bar and choose “Disk Utility.” Once you’ve gotten into the Disk Utility you have to select your hard drive and click on the partition tab and under the Volume Scheme choose 1 Partition and click “Options” and choose GPT. From this tab choose “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” and name it Macintosh HD and click apply.
Step 6: Close Disk Utility and go through the Installer. After it is done restart and again press “F12″ and boot from the Boot-132 disk, this time select the Macintosh HD partition and again boot with the “-v -x” boot flags.
Step 7: Now that you’ve booted into your partition open your disk and open the “Post-Install” folder and install “Chameleon 2 RC3″ After this go back to the Post-Install folder and open the Extra folder now highlight and copy everything in the Extra folder. After you have copied all the files open up your “Macintosh HD” and go to the “Extra” folder and paste everything you copied.
Step 8: Now Open up the Applications folder from the Post-Install folder and open “Kext Helper” now go to “Local Extensions” and Kext Helper all the files in there.
Step 9: Go to the PrefPanes Folder and look below for the Terminal Commands that you need to run to install the trackpad preference pane. After that just double click the VoodooHDA prefpane. (Terminal is located inside the Utilities folder that is in the Applications folder.)
Step 10: Open up the Sleep folder and double click the SleepWatcher.dmg and install both packages. After this open the “Install rc.wakeup” and run the commands in terminal. Now quit terminal and open it again and run
“sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0“
“sudo rm /private/var/vm/sleepimage”
Step 11: Restart and you will have everything running. You should go to the VoodooHDA prefpane in system preferences and adjust the “Speaker” volume and the #5 Microphone for the mic. After this you can go to the sound prefpane and select the speaker as your output.
Step 12: Go to Software update and update to 10.6.1 and you’re good to go all updated. Please post a comment if this guide worked for you.

@Mihai: You answer your question… Yes. To install SL your HDD must be GUID.

@C0r130n3: And because of this the installer wouldn’t start? I think it should at least start and give an option to repartition my HD drive.
Weird, I can’t get it to boot from the BootSL disk. I boot the disk, and I get 4 icons on the page (I guess representing drives). I wait for the disk to spin down, take out the BootSL disk, put in the Snow Leopard disk, wait for the drive light to stop and hit F5. I guess at this point I am supposed to use the arrow keys to navigate to the CD and boot it… problem is, it won’t highlight the CD. It will only highlight the other 3 drives. I think the CD name is too long, because the name doesn’t actually appear, but i can’t change the name because my CD burner doesn’t let me change the name of the image file. Grrr! And to top it all off, when I view this page on my PC to look at comments, I can only see the last three for some reason, even though it says it has 1017 comments. So my answer might be in there but I can’t see it.
OK, I figured out the forum comments, hehe. Now I can see them all. It is frustrating that Roxio won’t let you change the volume label of a DVD it burns from an iso.

1. They talk about ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin. LPC device initialization failed… I’ve read somewhere else that lots of people have this message, but that it’s a non-blockine one for them. There must be some other errors, but I can’t find any
2. Are you talkoing about NullCPUPowerManagent.kext file ? The one that’s in the boot-132/Extra folder ? Then yes, I’ve installed it.
3. Did 3 times, no success
4. Did it after fresh re-installation…. no success….
5. I’ll give it a real try as soon as I can boot in normal mode
6. I didn’t try to update yet
7. I didn’t know about this utility. Tried yesterday… no success
8. Chameleon really doesn’t work for me… I’ll try with easyBCD as soon as …. I can boot in normal mode
9. VoodooHDA doesn’t work on my 1525… Of course, I can only try in safe mode, so that might be my problem, but each time I open it in the PrefPane, I’ve got a registry problem (or some error of the sort)
I know google’s my friend. I’ve read maybe 20 different guides during the last 2 weeks… Tried on my own different other things… no success…
Are there some kind of logs somewhere I can have a look at to know what’s happening when I try to boot in normal mode ?

Arf…I tried this guide several times, but still no success…
I have the DELL 1525 model with 1440×900 screen and the usual Intel X3100. I managed thanks to another post on this site to make it work almost perfectly on 10.5.8.
But I don t know why on 10.6 or even 10.6.2 (supposed to integrate x64 drivers for the graphic card) I will always get a black screen after reboot.
The only way I can reach the desktop is deleting all AppleIntelGMA* then i have crap resolution and no QI CE.
Does anyone who has the same screen as me manage to get it work fully in SNOW (x32 or x64) ? If yes any help would be greatly appreciated
Otherwise my 10.5.8 is not bad anyway

Yes, unfortunately for me, the answer is you have to view this site in Internet Explorer. There’s an image at the bottom that is a link to view the previous posts, but it does not appear in Firefox for some reason.

The first time i booted this disc it worked fine and i installed snow leopard.
But after the reboot it kept giving me the message: EBIOS read error, device time out

Help!
Here is the deal, I completed the install everything works great, yet the pc was dropped and broke the screen, I had not made a backup so I took the drive out and made an exact copy of it. I replaced the PC(1525) took the new drive formatted it for Mac and copied over my exact hard drive copy. Placed hard drive back in computer turned on I get to the apple starting page, then the RESTART your computer pops up.
Any ideas why this isnt working?

Deleting the AppleIntelGMA* solved my problem with the black screen after booting but as Chris pointed out now the graphics are crap.
Also I don’t know if it is related but has anyone got ’sleep’ to work because it is not working for me.
I followed step 1 through step 9, then restarted my Dell 1525. Everything worked fine, including graphics, sound, LAN, WiFi, and card reader. I next updated to MacOSXUpd10.6.1, Safari4.0.4, and iTunes9.0.3 I got to love my Dell MacBook Pro. Thanks so much for this great guide.
updated to 10.6.2 and can’t boot .. kernel panic …
Any way to dual boot mac and win7? cause I see mac need one type of partitioning scheme and win another

1) Boot to Loader
2) Swap Disk
3) Wait for DVD Drive spinup
4) Hit F5
5) Type -v -x
6) Memory Allocation Error.
Any thoughts?
Actually initial error is “can’t find mach_kernel”
Then if I do -v -x again then I get the ‘Memory Allocation Error’
I eventually got it working !
I’ve got a few remaining problems though. The main one is that I’ve got to boot using Chameleon’s option -F (ignore boot configuration file)… If I don’t use it, the system just gets stuck at some point… Does anyone know how I can fix this ?

The installation worked for me on Dell Inspiron 1525. However, when when I updated the Snow leopard from live update, it did install the update and restarted. Upon restart, it stopped working and gave an error upon booting up. I tried -v -x as well but the same result. What can be wrong with the update process as I followed all the steps correctly and everything (wifi, sound and mic, mouse tapping, lan card etc etc) except double finger scrolling?

Ok I have gotten os x 10.6.1 on my dell 1525, but the only problem I have is the computer fan seems to be running a lot. Computer doesnt seem to be hot but the fan is almost always on.
Any fixes for this?

the only problem i have (and this may be an end user problem) is my sound. everything installed fine, but i have no sound.
here are my channels & the available controls for each channel:
1: Digital-out (Jack) – PCM
2: Speaker (Fixed) – PCM
3: Microphone (Black Jack) – Mic & Recording Level
4: Line-out (Black Jack) – PCM
5: Microphone (Fixed) – Recording Level & Monitor
6: Microphone (Fixed) – Line & Recording Level
7: Digital-out (Fixed)
channel 7 has no controls available.
also, on the left, under the list of channels, there is a big gray button. when i click it, it turns blue and ALL of the controls for the selected channel are available, but if i select another control or exit the settings window, once i go back, the big button is gray and i still only have the limited options listed above.
i tried going through the comments to find an answer but there are so many! can someone please help me out with this?

@guitch: Use Kext utility app for Extra/Extras (or KextStore) folder. Just drag and drop folder over Kext Utility App (place it on desktop). Than open Disk utility. Highlight Macintosh HD, Choose First Aid and Repair Disk permissions. When app finish restart and you should be able to boot normally.
@C Tate: There is no digital out, so no settings for that. (Someone here said that S-video out is digital audio out but no one confirmed that)
Select speaker (fixed) move PCM slider to right, not all the way. Close Voodooprefpane. Open Sound pref pane in System Preferences highlight output, than Speaker (Fixed) set output volume. And that will be everything. Sound should be working now.

The installation went very smooth with it. I now can boot easily… There’s another one problem for me now: all I get is a black screen. I know SL is booting fine, and everything must be working (I see my USB key blinking when I plug it in, which shows that SL accesses it).
I’ve looked on the internet, but cannot find a solution for that. Does anyone ever get one ?
I tried to re-install everything a 2nd and a 3rd time… Still this darn black screen at the end….
My screen is the Hi-Res one : 1680×1050. This might be why only some of us have the black screen with the “same” 1525 pc. I’ll have a look this way….

@guitch: Can you boot in safe mode? Did you try “old sleep trick”? When you are on black screen unplug AC cable, close lid, and wait for 1525 go to sleep (aprx. 10-20 min). Than open lid. Have normal screen now?
Ok so im trying to do a reinstall of 10.6 on this 1525 and it keeps going straight to the chameleon boot loader i can’t even hit f12 to boot from the cd… any one have suggestions
Ok so the problem is that before it boots in to 10.6, I used a USB keyboard and I was able to hit enter but I cant do this with the on board keyboard

To solve the problem with black screen and bad resolution, follow the steps:
- Boot with -s and type the command to mount your disk
- Create a backup directory somewhere and then move all AppleIntelGMAX3100* from /System/Libraries/Extensions
- Edit your com.apple.Boot.plist on Extra folder you have copied and add the following lines:
GraphicsEnabler
y
- Then on same file, change “Graphics Mode” to “1440×900x32″
- Restart and enjoy your hackbook!!

i just installed osx snow leopard on 1545 and everything seemed to be fine. then i rebooted and now im stuck at the chameleon screen , i cant F2 or F12. nothing.i cant get the computer to anything but boot to this screen. any ideas?????

As for personal feedback, I was able to get everything up and working (except getting my headphones to work) with the Boot132 provided in the original post. It was just that I wasn’t following everything to the tee.
I have a couple of questions for you:
1.I have the ‘usual’ Dell 1525. What specific hardware do you have and why have you included the extra kexts? It would be stellar if you could help us choose between yours and the author’s kexts.
2. Do you have any suggestions for getting headphones to work? (My speakers do work)
3. I have the same problem as others upgrading to 10.6.2. Kernel panic and it bombs (I don’t remember the exact error, but it was horrendous). Can’t boot with -v -x as well. Just had to re-format and am holding back on the update. Can you help here?
4. I downloaded the file you posted and it contains some references to ‘boot into safe mood and install new sleep enabler’ and finish update. Could you please expand on how the sleep enabler makes updae possible and what specific steps to follow to update to 10.6.2 after going through the author’s steps?

I have a Dell 1525 and everything works perfectly except the following problems. Those are minor and I would certainly encourage anyone who is reading this to try the author’s instructions. This is as close as you will come to a perfect setup with a original disk installation. Having said that, it seems a lot of us are having these problems and if someone could nudge us in the right direction it would be great! Exact instructions, links or general reference sources: anything is much appreciated!

@Desperate_user: I’m glad that my zip help.
1. I have “usual” Dell 1525.
But extra kexts are for solving problem when booting normally after install. Disabler.kext is used to disable ACPI error. So without that kext you will be unable to boot normally, only in safe mode.
2. Headphones work. You just need to stup them properly.
System Preferences- voodooHDA PrefPane- Choose output (digital out 1st) – move PCM slider to right (not all the way) exit VoodooHDA. Then go in System Pref again, this time in Sound choose output and device for sound output. Than set output volume… you can go to max. 
That will be everythong. Headphones, or external speakers should work now.
3. As I sad 2 many times before…
To update go in safe mode (It’s safer!!! 
DD). DELETE Sleepenabler.kext. DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO AFTER CHANGING KEXTS. Update. When update is finished you need to restart. Boot in safe mode again. When you are in SL safe mode “install” new SleepEnabler.kext (one that is provided in my zip) That is new Sleepenabler.kext for 10.6.2! If you leave old sleepenabler you will get Kernel panic. BEFORE restart follow instructions in read me file I provided WHAT TO DO WHEN CHANGING KEXTS. (I hope you know what I mean) 
Restart. Boot normally. And you should be Up To Date. You don’t have to do this when you update software (iTunes, etc.) just when updating OS X files.
4.Obviously you misunderstood me. Everything explained in 3.
REMOVE Sleepenabler.kext when updating! 
5. I didn’t do anything with my cam. For me, it’s working as Web cam should… So… I don’t know.
6. WiFi is working through AirPort. By default. There is no way (yet) to use WiFi through wifi card.
But, AirPort is working perfectly, so why bothering to enable wifi card?
5. Again.
Nothing more… Glad that I can help. If you have more questions, just ask. I will try to answer.
Much appreciate your answers and thank you once again for explaining how to update to 10.6.2. I will post some feedback as soon as I get around to doing what you said.
Can you explain how does the general update process go? If update manager ask me to update key components of my system (not just application software like iTunes):
1. What do I have to be careful about?
2. What are the usual reasons why an update my render a system unbootable?
3. What are the solutions to above mentioned reasons and how and where to search for solutions?
4. How to correct a system that is unbootable due to an update?
5. Lastly, I am thinking Time Machine would help here. If I have a perfect setup now, can I use Time Machine to backup the whole disk and then when anything breaks just restore the disk?
5.1 Would this process work as expected?
5.2 Would it restore the entire disk, with all the programs, settings, etc?
5.3 Could I use this Time Machine image on another Dell 1525 and have the same system running there?

I put in the Boot-132 cd and hit 12…waited for it to stop blinking (mine is a solid light so i actually waited for the light to turn off), then I hit enter to boot from disc. From there, nothing happens. I have a black screen with on grey dash and then eventually after about a minute the Windows Advanced Options Menu comes up. Any ideas?

I’m running this on an e1505 with an intel duo core processor. Seems to meet all necessary specs for using the boot-132 process. I’ve tried all 3 .iso’s above and all have shown the same behavior.
I’m not trying to create a dual boot scenario with XP. I’m happy to just have mac os x

I got Dell inspiron 1525 but i get some problem while loading Snow Leopard installation menu.
I load BootSL disk, swap it with original Mac OS X Snow leopard retail DVD 10.6 press F5, write boot flags “-v -x” – everything until this is alright.
Everything starts loading and after few mins starts a lot of misstake to load (Yellow error rows) not all but few. I think it should be like this for a start or i dunno.
Later on when on leopard 10.5.6 mac os x i was receiving black screen and doing sleeptrick everything was perfect. BUT now on snow leopard i get screen with like graphical problems i think i get like instalation screen but it multiplies to many of them and everything goes crazy, cant see anything. i really dont know what is that and what is wrong. yea, when this happens the screen is violet color mostly- so it is installation screen, (plus, i can see mouse cursor, but it doesnt move). later i press Power button, everything goes grey – so it means turn off board pop ups. after that i tryied old leopard 10.5 original copy of mac os x i was getting black screen – havent tryied sleep trick.

Just a small update… After 3 weeks of trying to install SL, almost everything’s running. The only major problem left is the GMAX3100 which doesn’t work properly. My only solution is to remove all IntelGMAX3100 files in S/L/E, but then I don’t have QE/QI (which is a problem for me, since my main concern was to try aperture……).
Anyway, sound, bluetooth and ethernet are all working fine. I haven’t tried WiFi yet, I shall try soon and see what happens.

To everyone who has the black screen problem with your 1525 :
- use macdrive (or something like that) to remove all intelGMAX3100 files in /S/L/E from a windows session (just cut/paste them into some backup folder)
- start “normally” SL, the only issue would be that your screen and video card are not recognized so the graphics will be creepy
- go to http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=763 and use DSDT SE to follow the instructions.
- re-place all intelGMAX3100 files from your backup folder into /S/L/E
- and ….. reboot !!!!!!!!!! it should be working now

ОК, running Snow Leo on Inspiron 1525 for about a month, all working perfectly, BUT cpu is very, very, VERY warm. Burned a fingers when you touch the left side of notebook. Occasionally rebooting (cause of overheating I think). Leo 10.5 worked fine.
Is there any methods to enable laptop cooling cpu features in SL?

Hi guys, im in a need of some help, im all messed up on the old install, my dell 1525 keeps shutting down from time to time ever since i did the voodoo power kext. Any one here gone through the same? some time ago anyways? I’m a bit lost on how to to fix this issue, i know it is battery related, i don’t have any battery display/options anywhere. If anyone could help, ahh it would be amazing!!!

Last night i installed 10.6 using the USB method, everything was working great. I even installed all the post install files. After running an update to 10.6.2 my startup gets stuck on “System uptime in nanoseconds” ive even tryed booting in “-v -x”. Can anyone help?

I had problems with overheating. It was so bad, the computer did shutdown several times. I had extenal pad with fans, but was only able to work with light loads in cpu. It reached an scary 98C at peak loads.
Then i read about problems also with overheating of the 1525 in windows too. The solution that was pointed out is to clean the cpu thermal cooling device.

I did the procedure detailed in there. My cpu has been 20C (about 36F) cooler in normal use since i did this. And i had been able to keep it working during a high load process. You will need 1 screwdriver, a brush and a vaccum cleaner, depending on how much dust is in there.
In my 1525 there was a ton of dust in there. I think it had been piling up since first time i’ve turned on the computer. My 1525 is about 11 months old now.

I was looking at menu meters, on my cpu load , and i see it says 2 cpus @ 1.5 GHz
About this mac, says that my cpus is 2.16GHz.
Is this normal? Speed does not seem to increase at high loads, and i am running with power adapter.

However, updating to the last version made it stop working, with a kernel panic when booting… I had to install it again and be careful not to update. Did I miss something?

@Nighto: OLD SLEEP ENABLER + NEW KERNEL=PANIC delete SleepEnabler.kext. Go to Apple site and download 10.6.2 Combo Update and save it on your desktop and install/update from there…follow this link: http://netkas.org/?cat=9 and download Updated SleepEnabler and kext it…i hope you be able to boot afterwards

I was able to get my inspiron working great after this guide. But i seem to have a little bug going on that i don’t know if it is OS install related or it’s hardware, maybe some one here had the same?
The machine simply turns off after some 6 to 8 hours of working. Usually this happens when i’m whatching a video on the web or playing audio…. any clues anyone?

I installed snow leopard fine to the point of the voodo preface(i get a “registry error”) but the main
problem goes after installing every kext (following instructions from here). by the way there is no “sleep folder” the file is located on “sound fix” folder but im not very good at loading it in terminal and can’t locate it even though i rederecting it to the right direction. so i could not do step 10.
after that i restart and when the apple is about to start i get a message saying ” hold t=down power button and restart computer” in multiples languages. then i need to get back in safe mode with the boot cd. can you please help me. i installed ideneb before working fine is inspiron 1525 3g ram 250gb hd, no blutooth, i belive is the x3100 video card (same as macbook). thank you for you time.
@david: i installed it 3 times and go the same errors as you one after the other, the guide is not complete and it’s missing important information. I also could not get step 10 done i think, and when doing that las command on terminal, i also got a cant find registry error. yaaa???

has anyone tried to run VirtualBox? I’m used to run it inside Ubuntu, now that I’m trying to run it from the Snow Leopard it spills this error:
VT-x is not available. (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX).
I tried to google for it, people say I should enable VT-x on the BIOS, but I couldn’t find this option on our Inspiron 1525 BIOS. Anyways, I already used VirtualBox from inside Ubuntu and it worked perfectly fine.
Maybe VirtualBox is assuming that I have the MacBook Pro hardware or something that our Inspiron doesn’t. Any thoughts? Thank you very much.
@Nighto: In your “user folder”, there will be a Library folder. Inside that library folder is a folder called VirtualBox, which in turn has a Machines folder. The XML file you find in there will have the line
(Your “user folder” is the folder that is named the same as your login, for lack of a screenshot for those who need pictures).
Change that to “false” and exit and restart Virtual Box (or open it if you had it closed) and the hardware virtualization extensions will be disabled.
Seems like a clear bug with VirtualBox, being that the setting is grayed out in the GUI but you can change it in the XML config file and that fixes the problem.

@HAnDZ: Thank you very much! As I didn’t know which one you’re telling me to make it false (if you paste XML directly it will strip it off, did you mean HardwareVirtEx, HardwareVirtExNestedPaging or HardwareVirtExVPID?) i just made all of them off and VirtualBox could run.

@dan: Here’s what i did to get solve the ” can’t find registry” error…Before doing step 9, i shut down my laptop and switch it on again. That, install VoodhooHDA on normal mode not safe mode. Open the terminal and type sudo -s and press enter. type your password if required and double click on VoodhppHDA…to install a trackpad, i followed a guide from http://insanelymac.com...

Everything’s still good here, machine is quite stable. I’ve got one question though, is anyone able to deactivate bluetooth ? I just don’t need bluetooth activated all the time, and my battery is dying already. I can see the button in Bluetooth preference pane, but it’s grayed out.

@Nighto: Yes it’s hardwareVirtEx. Set it to false instead of true. All the rest of the options you could/should leave as they were.

To do this you first COPY the IOBluetoothFamily.kext from /System/Library/Extensions to /Extra/KextStore. Then you edit the Info.plist in the BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController.kext plugin:
‘/Extra/KextStore/IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController.kext/Contents/Info.plist’
changing 8448 to 33062 on line 77 and 2653 to 16700 on line 79, rebuild the cache ‘/Extra/Extensions.mkext’ with MKextTool and your good to go.
Many thanks for this guide.. I’ve now got my 1525 up and running perfectly with very little fuss.
If the author could incorporate the various points/fixes mentioned further down in the comments that would help others immensely.
Notably, what I had to do in addition to the main post:
1. Boot-132 disc can be a little tricky – Pressing F5 too soon causes the display to glitch. I found that changing discs, then pressing Down on the cursor and selecting Boot helped refresh the disc list without glitching, and only then when did it display Snow Leopard disc would I proceed with pressing F5
2. To get the sound working – Select speaker (fixed) move PCM slider to right, not all the way. Close Voodooprefpane. Open Sound pref pane in System Preferences highlight output, than Speaker (Fixed) set output volume.
3. To get graphics working – Boot with -s and type the commands to mount your disk:
- Create a backup directory somewhere and then move all AppleIntelGMAX3100* from /System/Libraries/Extensions
- Edit your com.apple.Boot.plist in the /Extra folder you have copied and add the following lines:
GraphicsEnabler
y
Then on same file, change “Graphics Mode” to “1440×900×32″
4. The documentation refers to the Sleep folder for the Post-Install. The sleepwatcher files are actually in the Sound Fix folder.
Hi, Everybody is talking about Dell 1525, Does it work on other Laptops like HP (mine). and another question is that I have a win7 installed. will MAC OS wip out the win7 or make it dual boot.
hello again is 7:23am and with no sleep at all i just finished putting snow leopard after 5 installation
i have 10.6 (still no sound though) will mess with that later. i did used more kext from another site to get that last cranck. if you need any help i will greatly help you with what i can. to abdul (the hp ) at first were one of the first running hackintosh with everything working ( pavillion’s of course).
at one point i was ruuning vista and osx 10.4(or 10.5 ) i dont remember. make another partion on the same hd and install osx …google it you’l find lots of info regarding dualbooting (ubuntu,osx,win7(will be same procedures as vista) and similar on win xp. pardon me if i made a mistake i just need to get some sleep now.
Does anyone know how to get the laptop to stay awake when closing the lid so I can just use an external monitor? Regular Macbook Pros will wake up with the lid closed when a USB mouse/keyboard is used, but the 1525 will sleep after 10 seconds or so. I’ll plug out and in my mouse and it’ll wake up but fall back asleep after a moment. I’ve tried Sleepless and that didn’t work and Insomniax will create a kernel panic

Is the 1.7 cor2duo 3gb ram etc I almost got it it fully working I’ve done like 15 clean install already the sound was my last issu but now I’m going to follow fogs advice and try the. Sytem pref. And change the options I could not finish today I had to go to work. With the permision of ther admin I can post link where I got it. It was a combinations of diferent kext … Gotta go its illegal to use blackberry and drive at the same time.

fully working!!! Thanks to everyone. the kext i used were from “daily blooged snow leopard” google that. 1. installed the rc3 chameleon 2. copy and paste the content on the “extra folder” from the cd and from the fie(folder) i got from daily blogged(is called extra) 3. installed the voodo ps2 from the daily blogged (unzip it and install. AND DONT check ps2 option just the voodoo. just click next next… 4 open kext helper from the cd and kext all kext from the folder called “kext needed” Plus the two kext “appleRTC.kext and VoodooSDHC.kext. (downloaded seperately from the same guide is just little more down the page) and also kext voodooHDA.kext and voodoobattery.kext and installed all those kext and thats about it. restart and you should boot up fine. i do not want to update yet because everytime i do i get a error (panic and wont boot up again so i’l leave it like that till a couple days you your. its a pleasure testing all this and giving you all report. thanks to the community here and there as we are all in the same team searching for the same goal. by the way its inspiron 1525 1.73ghz 3gb ram(soon will update) 250gb no bluetooth.

Martinez more likely it will screw it up. Sugestion make a backup of your files. Grab a cd burn the 132 and get the image 10.6.1 from torrent site( double layer dvd( I know expensive. But what your going to get in return is much more joy out of it. And do it and stop hesitating this life is about taking risk. And urs are not that big and at least you already know what’s coming good night
