Common Problems on Dell Inspiron 1525 Hackintosh
**THIS POST IS OUTDATED PLEASE REFER TO THE SNOW LEOPARD GUIDE**
I’ve created this page to solve a lot of the common problems that people have had throughout the duration of this site.
To start, I’m going to write this using osx86tools created by pcwiz, you can download it here
http://pcwizcomputer.com/osx86tools/
It’s important to remember to check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks” in OSX86tools on a lot of these steps.
You Have No Wi-Fi: To get your wifi going run this patch broadcom patch and if that doesn’t work download this broadcom-script and open up terminal and type “sudo -s” without the quotes and drop the broadcom script into the terminal and press enter and go through the prompt. After this open up osx86tools and check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks”
You Have No Sound: To get sound download sound_fix and then open “osx86tools” and install both AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext and then check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks”
If this doesn’t work you can download this dailyblogged_fix which was posted over at http://www.dailyblogged.com/275/near-perfect-audio-with-latest-applehda/ To run it you have to open the AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 and drag the 1525_codec onto it. After this open osx86tools and check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks”
My Sleep Doesn’t Work: To get your sleep working download this sleep_fix (Made by Slice and the Voodoo team) and then open osx86tools and install both kexts and then check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks” and shutdown and boot with “-f” without the quotation marks.
My Shutdown Doesn’t Work: This is a problem when booting on battery power that I have yet to figure out. Two possible solutions that might work are as follow
You can open osx86tools and install OpenhaltRestart.kext made by Psystar.
Or you can try and follow the You Have No Sound part of this post and try both of them see if those fix it.
My Card Reader Doesn’t Work: To get your card reader working download IOPCIFamily.kext made by Slice and then open osx86tools and install the kext and then check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks” and shutdown and boot with “-f” without the quotation marks.
My Bluetooth Isn’t Recognized/Won’t turn off and on: To Get your bluetooth recognized and with the ability to turn it off and on. Download bluetooth_fix the IOBluetoothFamily.kext was modified by Zoharxero to get turn on/off capability and the applesmbios is by anV. To install open osx86tools and install the kexts and then check “Repair Permissions” “Set Extension Permissions” and “Clear Extensions Cache” and press “Run Selected Tasks” and shutdown and boot with “-f” without the quotation marks.
i am stuck at the first screen only. wen i boot from disk at the apple logo an error occurs and i am not able to do any thing…. please help me.. please..
My Smart Scroll works on firefox… but the scroll keys not. Is weird because it’s work with all other applications. Anyone know something about this?
I installed the 10.5.6 mac os and then i updated to the 10.5.7 version. So:
1. i lost battery status (i solved this);
2. i lost usb function for external mouses (pendrive works, why?);
3. i lost the screen definition (1280×900, so i had to delete the files to continue using);
4. i lost the external monitors which was working on the 10.5.6 version
Thanks everybody for help!
Regarding the CPU speed problem:
I have solved it editing the Info.plist of VoodooPower.kext, there’s a line in the xml like:
UseEfiFsb
originally it was set to “true” but that made the max speed 1.81 (instead of 2Ghz).
I’m having trouble sharing an Internet connection over AirPort.
Hi just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems as me here.
A process called .mds keeps maxxing out firstly one core but then it moves on to the other causing my system to completely freeze.
On a previous install i disabled .mds but applications like photoshop and dreamweaver would freeze periodically and i blamed it on my disabling of .mds im at a loss!
Any ideas?
Did you Google? This is a known problem with Spotlight by not finishing indexing. You could also disable spotlight altogether.

To get the mouse working you need to install the trackpad again.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to do but it’s most likely a networking issue rather than a hackintosh issue.
I’m sorry, I don’t have any ideas on that.
Hey Folks, i have a problem not about leopard but about dealing with specific thing
in windows when you have a folder some where and you have the same folder in other location but it contains extra-stuff , when i copy the one that contain extra to the one that contain less , it asks me about to copy and replace all or just copy the new stuff
now i had folder ( 1 GB ) in my leopard desktop and other one ( 40 GB )in another partition
i dragged the folder (1 GB) in my desktop to my other partition that contain the big folder ( 40 GB )
as usual new message appeared and told me if u wanna copy and replace
i chose yes and bam i only now 1 GB instead of having 41 GB
so is there any way to get them back instead of using recovery programs ( Cuz They never recover everything ) ?
i know it is not important porb but it is silly to lose 40 GB for nothin
P.S The 41 GB was Seinfeld series
I tried to install the retail DVD on a Dell Inspriron in 1525 but could not because the video card.
Once the installation program starts appears a black screen and can not be continued.
To resolve this I thought about using the kext disabler.kext to prevent kext’s the video card was launched.
The installation program could continue in VESA mode and after installing the kext’s that work would be installed.
How to use the disabler.kext disable other kext’s? Specifically the AppleIntelGMAX3100, AppleIntelGMAX3100FB, AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer?
Sadly it seems as though your info is gone
and I love seinfeld too!
There is a way to do this I’ll be posting my boot-cd by friday along with some instructions, if you dont need instructions feel free to email me at gbonilla@mandomhood.com
Hi everybody!
I installed the mac os x on my dell inspiron and everything is going fine! But i can’t see 108 mbps wi-fi networks. I don’t know why, but only works networks in 54 mbps. The problem is that i can’t see networks on 108 mbps. At least, i’d like to see the networks, but i can’t.
plent
I solved ay of problems here, this is a nice site! Thanks and congratulations to everybody which helps to this website!
hey. installed everything and it works. first off thanks.
just have a question really. when i click about this mac, it says 2.39 ghz unknown. will this affect the laptop’s performance if it cant recognize that its intel dual core?
thanks
anthony
Have you installed chameleon 2? If you install that it should patch your smbios and it should be read correctly.
wicked cant wait for this!!!
My keyboard, mouse, trackpad, audio card, and WiFi will not work at all. I know the WiFi card is unsupported, so that’s not really an issue… but when I try to install too many drivers, the final stage of the installation (the ‘black screen’ part) will just end up killing my bettery instead of doing anything constructive…
And also, I trued installing some kexts with the kexthelper application (dragged then to the window, enter password, installed, checked advanced, tag cache rebuild… you get the idea) and when I rebooted, it was acting as if I was re-installing OS X (the whole screen goes blue, then black)…
What do I do?
yeah i just installed the one that was in your hackintosh drivers/misc and restarted
still says unknown.
Ugh… OK, disregard all those posts up there of mine ^^^
For some odd reason, every time I shut the system down (power off, restart, etc.), on power-up, the screen goes blue, then black (just like in installation). I must then wait for the machine to go into sleep mode to press the power button and have the machine return to normal.
Any ideas?
Hello. I have some questions about “problems” with my hackbook.
1 – Even installing Chameleon 2, iDeneb does not recognize my CPU. It shows “2.0 GHz Unkown”
2 – The batery manager shows 2 batery on system notification area. I do not know if it is a problem, but, who knew?
3 – I cannot use both headset output jack. I have to share my headset with other person.
Waitin’ for questions.
Regards.
You must put the dsdt.aml into your macintosh partition and install chameleon. It works for me. It’s because the system can’t understand your monitor. if u have a external monitor u can pass the image to it pressing FN + F8.
You will find this file and other solutions for wireless in this post [http://macyourpc.com/2009/05/12/update-your-dell-inspiron-1525-to-1057/]
Hi! I have the same problem.
The results of Xbench are also very low. Maybe it was opening an interesting topic for people to send the settings of your computer’s patch and the kext’s used in the installation.
The processor speed is also displayed incorrectly. I saw your post saying that it resolved the issue of speed, but not understood.
Could you help me?
Hi all,
I have a slight problem whereby I have a external monitor connected & use it in a dual scenario. Well alls well & it works brilliant except for the fact that when put the laptop to sleep & then re waken it only the laptop monitor comes to life & not the external monitor. Not a major problem but thought maybe someone has come across this?
Hmm, have you tried clicking the detect monitor thing? If you want to do it automatically you could probably write a script and add it to sleepwatcher to auto-detect it. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10387
Thanks for the reply & yes I’ve tried that. It’s (the external monitor) obviously not getting a signal once the laptop wakens. I’ve checked the logs which don’t reveal anything.
Is there anyone who has an external monitor connected & works fine after a sleep? The reason I ask is because it may just be problem all round in which case I’ll live with it..
OK this time after putting the lappy to sleep & waking it up again I disconnected the external monitor then did a ‘detect monitor’ then reconnected the monitor & again did a ‘detect monitor’ & this time it fired up the external monitor as well! strange..
Anyone else have this problem (if indeed it is a problem)?
My laptop and external monitor comes back every time from sleep, I always boot with the external monitor connected, detecting after boot doesn’t work for me.
The problem I have is with mirroring it can’t find the right resolution and both screens become garbled, Anyone else have mirror working?
Mirroring on the Dell Inspiron 1525 just isnt possible, I’ve tried for a long time and I have yet to find any solutions. If you have mirroring enabled and you cant get it back to disabled you can use this app
http://eruvia.org/software/osxmirroring/index.html
Interesting & thanks for the heads up. Can I ask which version of the graphics kext you use?
Sure, I’ll post a kextstat -l dump when I get home.
I did a kextstat -l the list is long I’m only posting the loaded graphics kext.
62 5 0×2dead000 0×1d000 0×1c000 com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily (1.7.3)
79 0 0×2e243000 0×19000 0×18000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelGMAX3100FB (5.4.4)
81 0 0×343d6000 0xcb000 0xca000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelGMAX3100 (5.4.4)
Cheers – I’ll take a look once I’m home
OK well I have exactly the same so I suppose it’s not the graphics – Oh well I’ll do some more investigation
ok well im completely confused about mine like my laptop says that it isnt connected but yet i can still go on the internet but each website takes extremely long to load, and when i try to find a connection a blank white window comes up and a blank white window comes up as well if i try to restore it.
I have been running 10.5.7 on my dell 1525 for a while now with occassional issues.
Today I noticed a spontaneous crash while installing some software. My mouse was able to move but when I tried to bring up the force quit screen it was unresponsive. Nothing would respond at all except the mouse. I had to hold power to shut down.
Also, I have noticed that when I sleep my PC it sometimes wakes up ok, other times it will wake up, but the screen will stay black and not be able to come back on. What I have noticed in particular though is that when my computer has been put to sleep and comes back and I try to restart/shutdown it will not complete this. I will have to hold power in order to reboot. In fact what usually happens after my PC comes out of sleep is it works fine for a little bit then something happens everything freezes and I get the beachball.
Are these issues typical, or is there something wrong with my install/kexts or some other process mucking up my stability?
I’ve seen that, I got annoyed and disabled two finger scroll and problem is gone. I’m using an external mouse anyway.
Two finger scroll, I do have that installed. Maybe I will remove that and see if it will resolve this issue. Thanks for your suggestion.
Hey Genaro! So no matter what I try, I cannot! get wifi working on my inspirion 1525! I’ve tried your broadcom patch and the script and everything but it will not recognize my wifi card, in system profiler nothing shows up under wireless! I don’t know what to do… any ideas? Everything else is working great, battery meeter sounds all that stuff! Just this one important thing isnt…
i have a 1525 and i got it working, so u download and install the broadcom patch and then you open up the settings and you click apply so that you can activate the patch.
I was wondering if it is worth it for me to install 10.5.7 or should i just keep my 10.5.3 which works perfectly. Should I bother with the hassle to backup my stuff first. What is the benifit of 10.5.7…
In additition i was wondering if snow leopard will be usable with inspiron 1525…
i finally got mac os and windows vista home basic to dual boot. Not using a virtual machine but actually partitioning my hard drive. If anyone needs help with this just ask
Hey hi everybody…
I’ve a problem here, but I don’t know if it has something to do with the hacking things. I just can’t connect my hackintosh with my wireless network, with a Windows Seven conected. Here is the clearification:
I’ve a router configured as a DHCP server. So, in the router options I’ve set up IPs to both computers (my hackbook and the PC with Windows Seven). In System Preferences> Network> AirPort, the configurations are correctly detected. In the PC configurations, everything is OK (booting up the Windows Seven also installed on my hackbook the network works fine). The PC recognizes my hackbook, but the reciprocal one isn’t true. I don’t know what to do anymore.
OBS: There are folders properly shared on both computers. The SMB sharing is turned on. Sometimes, hackintosh recognizes the PC. So…Do you know what to do to get the network working fine?
Thank you for your time.
There are some more things that I forgot:
Sometimes, when both computers are turned on, and the PC is disconnected, my hackintosh shows it on the finder window’s left sidebar.
And sometimes, it recognizes the PC but can’t access it’s folder.
Sometimes (again), when the hackintosh is connected and the PC is connected after, hackintosh recognizes it. Do you see how it’s confused? Please, help me someone.
I have problem with my Dell Inspiron 1525 (Screen resollution 1440×900 )
After installation “iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal FINAL” (all how you recomended) i wait 25 min. but screen is black
Sleep mode but don’t wake up!
Sorry for my english…
Followed exactly the instructions to fix my Dell 1525 card reader, but the reader refused to work. Please tell what else I should do ? TIA.
hi i kexthelpered these and did the tag cache rebuild. i then FORGOT to repair disk permissions and then restarted. i was trying to get my ethernet to work, but after the restart, my wifi stopped working and it said no air port card installed. so then i remembered i was supposed to do repair disk permissions and so i did that and it repaired them, i restarted and the same problem occurred. so this time i re installed the kexts and then did the repair disk permissions and then restarted and again it says no airport card is installed. pleeaaasseee help thank you!

Hi I came across a new problem, I used http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f184/80904.htm link to dual boot OSx with windows 7. everything went fine but when i m booting to MAC I am getting message starting hibernating after that when I close the lid my system getting restarting.
Please can any one help me on this problem
First try to delete the sleep image by opening terminal and running “sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage” now try to sleep it after doing this. Also what kind of sleep are you trying to get? quick or hibernate? There are a list of different hibernate modes here http://explanatorygap.net/2006/06/08/moving-the-hibernate-image-file-on-a-macbookpro/
How can default boot winxp first. i want when i start pc, first os boot is xp, no mac . help me
Ok, Normally i don’t do this kind of stuff like hackintosh and such but Vista has really peved me for the last time with crashes and the sorts, Nothing against linux distros just not quite up to par with the video editing software that I need though one is showing promise KedanLive.
So out of sheer need and desperation I finally decided to give this a try.
the only glitch I have to report is in the area of is where I have to connect a second monitor to my lap top (Dell Inspiton 1525) hit (fn) then F8 which changes it from the internal to external display.then up on load up it refreshes to the internal display.
or, if I am not able to have handy the other display then I have to use Power then S to put the thing to sleep.
other then that is is working fine. so if there is a work around for this much e be abliged.
I am planning to get Snow Leopard when it comes out, I hear it will be able to run on the Intel based PCs with out the need for modding, but then if I am wrong so be it, i’ll save up and get a mac..hmm they have a metal case?
Oh coencdently with the the wierd os I down loaded, i can boot using dual CPU to aquire software but…there is a catch, i lose sleep mode lol and have to do a haed reset.
it is a darwin based loader, it is so far the only loader that I have seen that will boot,
I have not tried Itakos as of yet, I have it set aside for now..
So far I have noticed, only one minor crash issue and that is when I am loading video from the camera but that was in 10.5.5 not sure if it will still do it now i upgraded.
Time machine works great HOWEVER! !do not use time machine in the set up area! for me it would not boot.but then When I try something I throw everything into the mix including the kitchen sink, and then a “blender” and what ever else I can think of to test to see what the os can and can not do.
So far i am liking it very much to the point of Saying Astala Vista Vista..also..beta tested its relative….
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
I’m using a Dell Inspiron 1525, and I am using iPC Leopard 10.5.8
At first, (with 10.5.6) my integrated webcam worked fine, but now, it isn’t being seen by the computer.
I’ve searched all over google, insanelymac, and here at macyourpc, but i haven’t found even a mention of the same problem.
PLEASE HELP ME! i use skype to video chat with my dad b/c he is gone for long periods of time, and i really need this fixed.
Thanks
Hi there, I’m sorry to hear something like that happened but lets try to fix it. Can you download this http://macyourpc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/iopcifamilykext.zip and kext helper it as well as tag cache rebuild and repair your disk permissions and let me know what happens.
hey genaro, thanks for the idea, but it didn’t work. Do you have any more ideas?
Although highly improbable it could be something with your zif cable if you would like to go through the trouble you could open up your laptop and check the cable. In the link below you can see the connection in step 6.
http://johndball.blaize.net/2009/01/29/add-an-integrated-webcam-to-the-dell-inspiron-1525/comment-page-1/
Ok
1 ) my systems didn’t come with a camera lol
2) sleep mode works on single CPU and not dual mode even in iTakos V7. So I tried a different version of the OSX and came up with the same thing..well almost..Itakos doesn’t break all the time when I up grade it that is a big plus lol.
3) Both iPC and ITakOS seem to have the same failure for getting to the screen in either Dual or single mode .
again it only freezes up in the dual core mode, that fix that was sent didn’t work.
I can connect to an external monitor and hit the FN Key and the CRT/LCD and it will flash from one screen to the other..I am not afraid to dig into the kernel to see if I can change a setting in there, I had to do that once with Ubuntu lol..hmmm I noticed a few command lines are similar to it..hmm what command line can I use or where an I go to see what the kernel is saying during boot up? I have to disks, one that I can use for fooling around, the other I am leaving alone lol.
I would like to submit an interesting find rather a happy mistake if one don’t mind.
it is in relation to a beta disk that I have found.
It is no longer being seeded though.
It has no chameleon heck all it does is boots up into Mac.
though it has some issues like when you first start up your greeted with a blue then black screen that is remedied by using power and “S” key or by using the Function+CRT/LCD combo.
It also hasn’t many drivers that are with it. However, after searching for a while I managed to find some drivers that work and the machine can be updated with out breaking.
There is a “broad com wireless driver” that seems to work with even the 10.5.8 update with out the need for Ktexting and such, just a simple install form a package. I can’t seem to locate the package any were..it was one of those here on minute gone the next lol.I have it backed up via disk, and 2 sd cards. I am wondering who I can send it to.
I updated the system 2x once from 10.5.5 with out adding drivers then to 10.5.7 with out adding drivers, then Updated to 10.5.8 . then added drivers, all this with a clean install..eh I oopsed on the sound drivers though..but that is an easy fix.
If you already have the package then I just wanted to give some input.
Though a newby at the mac stuff, I can learn fast hehe.
I’m running Retail Leopard 10.5.8 on Dell 1525. Everything is running smoothly so far, no problems apart from Bluetooth. My Dell 1525 never came with Bluetooth built in so I had to buy one from ebay. It’s a mini nano USB bluetooth, and when plugged in works fine and is recognizable.
Here’s the problem: It won’t pair with any phone devices at all. I’m not sure why this is an issue, does anyone know the solution? I’ve gone through sharing settings on system preferences enabling bluetooth sharing and file sharing, but still no joy!!
Any help would be great
Thanks
How do I do this?
Wanted to add one other thing, it boots directly to a crt screen, I jsut want to know how to change the way this boots up into the laptops monitor rather then the CRT extension.
how do i install 10.5.8….
i currently have 10.5.2
I desperately want my ethernet to work..
i m using 10.5.7
i kexthelperd the file http://macyourpc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/ethernet_fix.zip with tag cache rebuild …then repair disk permission n then restart
..but after restarting still internet doesnot work though it know ethernet pin is connected
…i also show some different mac address like 11:22:33….
please help
hey genaro. the webcam does not have any problems with it, as a last attempt, i made a windows 7 RC partition, and it runs the webcam just fine, so it IS a hackintosh problem.
Are these posts still being monitord?
That’s a huge leap, one I wouldnt suggest you taking. I would suggest going with a fresh 10.5.6 install and going from there. Another thing is that I wouldn’t suggest you updating to 10.5.8 unless you really have to because it really doesn’t give any advantages and only makes your system unstable.
If you want to fix the mac address you have to follow these steps http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155935&st=40&p=1099839entry1099839 if you need help with kextloading and such please follow this http://macyourpc.com/2009/06/15/knowledge-tips-and-extra-commands-to-manage-your-hackintosh/
The reasons it might not be working is that there are two appleyukon.kexts your are trying to load, you’re going to have to navigate to your extensions folder and look around for it, it could be located in your IONetworkingFamily.kext in the plugins folder.
Is it not being recognized in the system profiler in os x? or is it just not working?
Yes these posts are being monitored but I don’t have as much time now that I have to work to pay off school and such.
its not being recognized by os x. Everything is showing “No Webcam Detected” and its not in the system profiler.
ah coolio, i have to agree with you on that one with being a big leap.
if I might be permitted to share a story of a friend who has an “Older MAC” he can no longer up date his system.
His physical hard ware can not take the up dates its one of those bullet looking things..I am not even sure if one can place a new MB in one of those.
any ways, He has “Panther” and his system keeps saying it is up to date.
My point is there comes a time when even an OS needs to be replaced no matter what.
technological changes, both in hardware as well as software are there for a reason. and when you try to change something to old, then one would have an issue.
My suggestion is get at least 10.5.6 or 10.5.7. and go from there..
Clean installs are the best so you can track were the issues are with hard ware an such.
I may be a newby, But working with computers has taught me that sometimes a clean install is the best that can be done when going up in OS’s Dinosaurs are dinosaurs and there extinct for a reason lol..software is the same way.
though i wonder sometimes …
and my apologies to the mod..didn’t mean any disrespect ..
hmm Ps my Inspiron 1525 is running pretty smooth, i had issues with chameleon version. but htenagain I could have set something up wrong to..
I cheated though i only use the second processor only when needed lol..
I hope to learn more and grow in my knowledge.
I can’t wait to get a real MAC lol
So nothing for the bluetooth pairing huh?
Ok, how about the shutdown fix for 10.5.8 retail. Screen goes black but doesn’t turn off, have to manually hold down the button. Real pain I know – but I’m sure there is a fix for this somewhere.
Anyone?
Thanks
PS:
Shutdown fix at the top of this page doesn’t work
Sorry I never had a chance to get to your bluetooth question, I occasionally miss a few. Besides the fix I have above I don’t know much about bluetooth given that I don’t have a bluetooth module on my laptop, I’m sorry I can’t help you anymore on that part.
Can you try deleting HDAenabler.kext and give that a go? Although your audio device wont appear in the system profiler it should still work and I’ve heard that it can fix the shutdown problem on some systems. You can delete it by opening up terminal and running “ sudo rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/HDAEnabler.kext ”
Thanks for the help Genaro, unfortunatley removing the HDAEnabler.kext only removes the audio completley. Shutdown doesn’t go to black screen but instead gives kernal panic after about 10 seconds. Oh well it was worth a shot.
Can I update to Snow Leopard Retail using the disk and boot 132? Will I have to back up files and do a clean install or is it just a straight update?
Cheers Fella!
For hackintosh you’d have to do a clean install and backup all your info, I’m working on a boot-132 disk and I will be picking up snow leopard tomorrow and try to get it up and running. I know I said I would post a guide on a retail install of leopard but I think I’m just gonna post a guide with all the good stuff for snow leopard so we can all sort of make the jump to a fresh retail install together. I would highly recommend purchasing the disk given that it’s a great os at a great price.
I will post a follow up on 10.6 soon
Very interesting Genaro – you’ve got my attention!
Hmm i uploaded a driver on one of the web pages, i am now officially lost as I had to reload all on the account that I had thought my machine was off when I pulled the hdd. that was a mistake ..any who got every thing back up and running.
I really havn’t had any of the issues that people are mentioning.
this time when I reloaded I just used the 2 up dates with out installing anything, and I used the broad com package (not Ktext) and the wireless popped on with out a glitch. Hmm I did have an issue where the touch pad failed but after opening the mouse settings and mucked around buy double tapping the slider it worked after doing some weird things.
Does anyone know good instructions of installing Chameleon after doing image’s restore ? I had “boot0: MBR boot0: error” after restoring the backed-up image and learnt that I needed to install Chameleon
Please email me and I’ll try to help you through this one, I’m at gbonilla@mandomhood.com
Thanks for ur feedback Genaro Bonilla, MAC address is fixed, ethernet port is now working!
Any Luck with the Snow Leopard – boot 132 disc yet Genaro?
I’m working on it, it’s been giving me trouble but it should be up soon.
Hey genaro how far along are u with getting snow leopard to work?
another question: do we have to do a complete reinstall? or can we do an upgrade?
i found a guide on lifehacker, it seems pretty easy, will the kexts u supplied your iPC guide work in SL? http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build-a-hackintosh-with-snow-leopard-start-to-finish
Hey genaro, there is a person in this website who has posted a kext pack for inspiron 1525. I havent tried it myself but the person claims that his SL is working properly so its probably worth a look and maybe it might help you in making your SL guide, that is if you are making one
Heres the link: http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/dell-inspiron-1525-t3860/
I followed the lifehacker guide to creating the thumbdrive but my inspiron 1525 just kernel panics as soon as I boot it up. Has anyone been able to work through that guide ?
Could you possibly post the link to the guide you are talking about?

Any solution for internal keyboard not working, for Dell Laptop (XPS M1210)? I’ve tried the numerous PS2 controller kexts but cannot get the internal keyboard working.
I tried both sound fixes, none of them brought made my hacked dell 1525 make sounds… There are no input and no output devices detected although the mic and speaker work properly. Can anyone help please?
I just installed ipc osx86 final on my dell inspiron 1525 two weeks ago. Its been working awesome so far but whenever I leave on for continuous hours it freezes. The screen sometimes turns black. Is there a fix to this?
My mouse pad is also working funny. It used to give me problems when I had vista installed on it. Dell used to tell me to reinstall the whole OS to resolve the problem. It did but then when I started using the computer for extended period of time, it used to give me problems ranging from lack of sensitivity to the touch pad not moving properly.
Is there a way to fix the HDMI port on the hackintosh?
thanks
Hi, I’ve been trying to get the bluetooth working on laptop with no luck! Please Help!
Hi,
I have plugged in another screen and I have activated the option “duplicate” in screen configurations. After that, the graphic environment crashes. I think it’s a resolution problem. How can I uncheck this option? Can I edit manually some config files ?
Thanks.
“duplicate” “mirror” “clone” is not possible, extended desktop only, if you are stuck in this mode try booting in safe mode -x or by using http://eruvia.org/software/osxmirroring/index.html or http://www.fabiancanas.com/Projects/MirrorDisplays/
Installed 10.6 (snow) with the Boot132 cd.
1.install goes fine
2.reboot on to partition, snow loads in safe mode, but is nicely functional
3.apply hacks/kexts/etc reboot.
4.apple logo on grey bg, then black screen, this is as far as it ever gets.
it only ever boots in to snow that one time after install (same happens if i skip step 3), ive been looking for an answer to this question all over the net, seems to be lots asking the same thing but no-one that knows what is going on
Hello I’ve Installed everything but now when I turn on my computer it freezes at the apple load up screen
Hey
I have some problems with usb devices… they are not recognized by the OS, but when I restart the notebook WITH THEY PLUGGED IN THE NOTEBOOK, they are so.
Do you know what can I do to solve this problem?
I’ve noticed that when I hit F8 in the Darwin screen and then I type -v, it shows some yellow messagens telling that there are some fail with the file PCenUSBEHCI
I’ve tried many things to solve it, but I’m stuck on it…
I’m using the version 10.5.3 by now
Looking forward to your reply!
I am 13 year old web designer and a vb.net programmer and was using Windows Vista and got ticked off. I went out bought a Snow Leopard Cd. This is my 5th time installing Mac Os X the last time I did it I managed to boot it up 4 times. The weird thing is that Mac Os X recognized my wifi, I have tried booth things to get my sound to work but neither seem to work for me. I would appreciate it if you could help me.
Problem solved.
I’ve reinstall the kext IOPCIFamily and since then I have no problem with USB devices.
@Romulo: *I’ve reinstalled*
