To ram:
You can use SwitchResX, I’m using it with my Dell 1525 and an external HP w22 monitor without any issue.

</blockquote>
Hi Dani, how did you got your external monitor runnin?

Note you don't have to boot with -s. Just run the following commands in the terminal before you reboot for the first time.

sudo mkdir /Drivers
sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA*

This video guide shows how to get 1440x900 working on snow leopard. Worked perfectly for me. Just make sure you watch the video all the way through before doing anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neJi97AlniI&feature=related

Does this work with Snow Leopard yet?
I'm currently running 10.5.6, with this fix and it's been working great for 3 months, but I would like to upgrade to snowleopard and this is the only thing holding me back.

Has anyone had anyluck?

Hi BlueTaz, try this out:
boot in single user : -s then when you have the prompt type in :
fsck -fy (i m not sure about this one anyway it should be written just above just type in the same command)
then you type in mount -uw /
mkdir /Drivers
mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA* /Drivers (you just remove the damn drivers to the folder you just created drivers)
reboot
Then you should boot in minimum mode and have your screen. Then just go and install the pack you can find on this website using kexthelper. Repair disk permissions, reboot, but before install chamelon V2 and use DSDT.aml so there is no need for the sleep trick
This worked for me and believe me i tried for a very looooooooooooooooong time :p
Coz whatever i did it installed the drivers....

Ok, installed “iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal FINAL" with no issues, but after reboot and loading with -v -f, im stuck with no display. I closed laptop as instructed and waited for the pulse, and then opened up again. I get a blank screen and then display shuts off.

Using Dell Inspiron 1525 with 1400x900 (16:10) display. Any ideas on what to do next? tried booting in safe mode and got the same results.

I have 1525 with 1440x900 screen

I install iPC and most things work, I also upgraded it to 10.5.7 with no trouble.

I am only able to boot in VESA (1024x768) graphics mode.... by deleting all the AppleIntelGMA* extensions.

Using any of the extensions recommended for 1525 (both 1280x800 and 1440x900 resolution ones) .... I boot to a black screen (system appears to be running - just have black screen)..... I cannot boot into safe (-x) mode with these kexts present... I must delete them, and then can get back to 1024x768.

How can I troubleshoot this? I am so close, just need correct graphics working.

what about 1680x1050? I have the same model with 1680x1050. Currently I am running 10.5.7 with no major problems except that I could get only 1600x1000. not 1680x1050. I have tried with your kexts but no change. the 1680x1050 option is right there, but if I select that blue scree of death. I have to hard boot and system automaically logs in with 1600x1000. any ideas?

WXGA 1280 x 800

WXGA with TrueLife 1280 x 800

WXGA+ with TrueLife 1440 x 900

If you'd like you can follow my iPC guide and you should have QE/CI right away and you will have 10.5.6

Try kext helpering these http://macyourpc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/ci.zip

after that you need to press "advanced" "tag cache" and "run" and then go to "Disk Utility" and "Repair Disk Permissions" on your Macintosh HD.

Noyasoft- If you had the higher resolution (1440x900) then when running OS X you would not have QE/CI support and I believe in System Preferences your system would be listed as 1440x900

Hello all,

How can tell if my Dell 1525 can support 1440×900?
I've removed the Vista installation 3 minutes after I got the laptop and I don't remember what was the resolution.
Is there any way to know for sure before attempting this patch?

Thanks,
Eitan.

Why yes indeed if you install from the iPC dvd you should see an option of "NVInject 0.2.1 256 VRAM" and you just choose that and you should be good. Be advised that I've never handled that kext but I assume that it works considering many people have had success with that video card.

Good Luck to you!

Make sure to post any questions you have. I'll be sure to try to respond in a timely manner.

Though Dell discontinued the Inspiron 1525 there are some new 1525s available with an "nVidia GeForce GB 8600M GT" instead of Intel GMA X3100.

Any ideas, if those Dells can be "hackintoshed"?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
