No More Disappearing Icons or Sleep Tricks!
**THIS POST IS OUTDATED PLEASE REFER TO THE SNOW LEOPARD GUIDE**
If you want to use it and are on anything other than 10.5.6 you will have to install chameleon and then follow my instructions.
Alright for those of you still reliant on the sleep trick and are constantly getting those annoying disappearing icons here is a guide for you to put an end to all of that.
1) Download my dsdt.aml and drop it in your “Macintosh HD” and “replace” the existing one.
2) Remove all traces of a sleep trick. I know some of you installed packages to get it working, simply uninstall them and get rid of any sleep corner. Once you restart you’ll be up and running like a regular mac. You’ll never have to log out and log back in or anything.
3) Cheer and leave me a comment if you got it working, and if not… well then leave me a comment and I’ll walk you through.
4) I made a quick video on how to do it.
You need to provide some more specific information on this. Where does it need dragged to on the Mac HD? I have the previous sleep trick and another package that was setup to fix this. If I search spotlight I only find it in the downloads section and in the archive of the other “fixes”.
It should be right in the directory of your “Macintosh HD” are you aware if you have Chameleon installed or not?
does your SD card reader work?
Yes I do, I’ll be writing a post on it either tonight or tomorrow. I won’t be able to post till late tonight but for sure I’ll get you guys going with that.
With the new DSDT.aml file I am now able not only to see a normal loading but also to play games with no longer black screen. Huge breakthrough with this file
Thanks to all people involved
I’m glad to hear that it works for you Cristian.
Sorry if it’s a dumb question but how do I go about installing Chameleon? I didn’t choose to install it when I used the ipc dvd. I have a triple boot 1525 with Vista/Mac/Ubuntu with grub and then the bootlloader for Mac when you select it. (I got to check if that says chameleon
)
Well I do have Chameleon (With the Darwin bootloader its says Chameleon v1.0xxx) and my system is 10.5.6 but I noticed there was no previous dsdt.aml file on my mac hard drive. Is there any steps to get it working. Im still using the sleep display corner with auto login. Funny thing is that I have a VGA monitor connected and it is on when I boot up but i still have to use the hot corner to turn on the notebook display.
Hmm funny, I turned off auto login and it’s working like a charm. I actually see the login window now haha. Good work!
Glad to hear that it worked for you. Spread the word.
I amusing the sleeptrick without autologon as described here:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117443
This works pretty ok, but I would like to try what you described here.
When installing Chameleon, will it install on my OSX partition only or will it f*** up my MBR?
I use the Vista Boot Manager for dual boot and have the “default” partitioning as shipped by Dell:
DellUtility
Recovery
OS (Vista)
Hackingtosh
MediaDirect
If you’re updated to 10.5.6 then you most likely have Chameleon installed.
It will not fuck up MBR or at least I’ve never heard of such a thing, I’m dual booting and when I installed Chameleon nothing happened. It should only install to your osx partition.
Not so succesful here….
Installing Chameleon messed with the partitions, when I boot I get some MBR errors, then the normal Vista bootloader. When selecting Mac, Darwin with Chameleon loads so it was indeed installed. Too bad, the default selection is now the Vista partition, while it used to be my OSX partition. Will try to set Vista as the boot partition again, that will probably solve the first issue. Anyone know how to set the default partition in Darwin?
Hmm, cannot get rid of the two nasty messages before the Vista bootloader nor change the default Darwin partition (tried rd=disk0s5) but of course that does not work as these settings are read after the selection.
Any suggestions are welcome….
Boot into vista and open “Command Prompt” and type “diskpart” follow by:
Thank you Genaro, that was not the issue, I verified that my Vista partition was still active. The two messages before the Vista boot are just “ugly” they do not require additional attention.
The second part was much more annoying as it required my interaction… but I resolved it and here is how:
Important background:
My OSX partition is a logical partition as Dell needs 3 partitions (DellUtility, Recovery and MediaDirect) apart from the Vista partition I had no other choice. When preparing to set up my multiboot using Vista BCDEdit and chain0, I read somewhere that OSX could NOT be installed on a logical partition. Did try it anywway and it worked.
After I installed Chameleon from your link above, it did not work anymore.
When restoring the original /boot using TimeMachine (wow! what a great feature!) and rebooting, I saw that I had Chameleon after all. My “old” version was 1.0.12, while the site you link to delivers version 1.0.11.
My version 1.0.12 is apparently capable of locating OSX on logical partitions, while 1.0.11 isn’t.
Oh I see, sorry about that I think you have PCI v9 then, well I figured if you had 10.5.6 you probably had chameleon. Well now that it’s out of the way you can boot without the sleep trick.
I have some problems with clamshell i think. When i close the lid and i am plugged into power my computer still goes to sleep. Sometimes when i wake it from sleep everything is frozen and i have to restart(happens a lot). Anyone have a solution?
1) Go over to http://www.superhai.com and download “VoodooUSBEHCI.kext” and download this.
2) If you have the old “EHCISleepEnabler.kext” installed make sure you delete it
3) Kext helper both of the files you’ve downloaded and you should be good.
I am having a problem where every now and again, for no apparent reason the screen goes to sleep, and I can’t get it to wakeup without forcing the entire computer to sleep (clamshell) and then waking.
I followed the instructions in this howto as well as the install howto (using iPC).
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
I’ve actually never heard of such a thing… do you have a sleep corner or have you set your energy saver preferences to “Never sleep”?
I would probably say that it’s your energy saver preferences. Go to system preferences and check it out.
I have all of that disabled.
I thought it might be that also, but when the display goes into this weird sleep state, I can’t get it to wake. With the instructions in the iPC, was there anything that might cause a sleep that it won’t wake up from.
No none at all, is there any kext that you’ve installed to enable sleep? You can try the fix I gave macdog303 up above.
Hm well it fixed the freezing issue (so far). One thing that i really would like to change is when i close the lid with power connected i want it to stay awake and not go to sleep. It worked when i did 10.5.2-.4.
Well there is an application but I’m not sure if it works for hackbooks.

Would you please elaborate on what is different in this dsdt file compared to the one I created with dsdt patcher?
I am just wondering if there will be any side effects. I also remember having to generate the file locally, so I suprised that this would work. I am using a Dell 1525.
Thanks
The reason it works is because we both have a Dell Inspiron 1525.
There should be nothing different between the two of our except that I edited my DSDT.aml in order to get the screen working without having to do the sleep trick. You can do it yourself, it isn’t difficult but I figure if this is a website dedicated to people using Dell Inspiron 1525’s that it will work universally and it has.
There are no side effects
Thanks a lot! This works beautifully on my 1525
You are very welcome, spread the word about the site.
Ok, so to elaborate on my problem. The screen isn’t shutting off, the whole computer is going to sleep. It appears to happen when I have a lot of load on the machine. Could it be heat related? Just not sure.
Also, I have the 1525 that does not have the webcam. Everything else seems to be the same.
That’s very strange, I’ve really never heard of that.
Do you know if it happens in vista?
Kennelbound, you could install the Voodoo speedstep kernel and application from http://www.superhai.com/ as described in here: http://macyourpc.com/2009/03/20/make-you-dell-inspiron-1525-hackintosh-speedstep
I already installed the sleepstep stuff.
I finally figured it out. I installed Temperature Monitor and found out that my processors were approaching 200F. I think my bios was putting the computer to sleep to prevent overheating issues.
I found http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=123780
There is a link off of that topic that has a PowerManagement bundle that caused OSX to actually manage my fans appropriately. Now I am idling around 120F, and maxing out at around 160 or so.
That’s quite strange that your computer was overheating. Have you installed VoodooPower.kext?
I’ve been having a couple of issues since a fresh install of iPC 10.5.6, this dsdt.aml, the two-finger scrolling stuff and 1440×900 stuff. All done through your guides. Not sure where to post it all and I’d rather not cut it up, so I’m just going to put it here.
First off, my computer does sometimes boot up fine and have no need to sleep whatsoever. This is sometimes not the case, however. I’ll often boot up to a black screen, where I have to close the lid until sleep and open it up again. Perhaps this is because I have not removed the clamshell option from iPC yet? I wouldn’t think so, but either way I’m not sure how to go about doing so. As it is, it’s nice to have as a backup option.
Secondly, when my computer does go to sleep, it always wakes up with touchpad tapping not working. I should mention that the whole touchpad stuff didn’t work too well for me. I reversed a few steps and now have no two-finger scrolling simply because it was screwing other things up too much. For preference panes, I have only keyboard related options in ‘Keyboard & Mouse’, another pref pane just for the touchpad named ‘Trackpad’ and finally FFScroll (which did semi-work before I messed with it, but tapping > two-finger scrolling for me).
Anyway, to fix the tapping I have to uncheck and recheck it under the Trackpad pane following every wake up. The trackpad tapping also doesn’t feel very responsive. There’s a bit of a delay, but I’m not sure how normal this is.
Another very annoying problem is that the computer simply doesn’t shut down. After clicking shut down, the screen will go black and eventually the hard drive activity stops (at least, I think it does). It then just stays there. I have to hold the power button every time in order to shutdown. I don’t think I’ve had any problems doing so, but it just doesn’t feel right.
Finally, I don’t have a battery meter. I only recently noticed this because I usually run without the battery, so can’t say I’ve particularly looked into it. I had the problem on Kalyway 10.5.2 but managed to fix it at some point. Can’t remember how.
Aside from all that, thank you for the guides! It would be great to have the definitive guide to everything Hackintosh 1525 here, but obviously this isn’t quite the case yet (unless my laptop is particularly strange). Keep it up!
I have a few quick questions so I could help you
1) You do have a 1440×900 display, correct?
2) Did you follow the 2-finger scrolling guide 100% of the way through and copied the “com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Trackpad.plist” to: /Users/[YourUsername]/Library/Preferences AND /Library/Preferences”?
3) Do you have an “ApplePS2Trackpad.kext” in your extensions folder? There should only be one in the plugins folder of your “ApplePS2Controller.kext”
4) There is a kernel panic when shutting down, this one is quite puzzling and I am a bit confused as to what you installed to cause this, have you installed any kexts outside from the ones provided at this site? If so can you please let me know which ones.
I hope we can get all these issues fixed up! I know it’s possible to get the trackpad working 100% and I know we can fix up your display issues.
1) Yes.
2) I did follow it 100%, but went back and changed some things after because it was working very badly. Can’t remember the details, but it’s much better now aside from the lack of two-finger scrolling and problems after sleep. I was quite sure to copy the plist to both folders, but can only find it under ~/Library/Preferences now.
3) Yes, I do. Do you mean a plugins folder within the kext?
4) I actually had this problem back on Kalyway, too. Never managed to solve it. As I recall, the only kext that isn’t on this site which I installed was one to get the \ key working with a British keyboard layout (http://forums.msiwind.net/mac/solution-for-the-dead-key-t4160.html — it does work perfectly if anyone’s interested, along with the layout file which can be found elsewhere) but I couldn’t shutdown prior to installing this kext.
Many, many thanks for getting back to me.
Jamie could I possibly do a screen share with you, I just want to take a quick look at your extensions?
You can reach me at GenaroBonilla on iChat.
While I very much do appreciate your offer, Genaro, I’m rather tin-foily when it comes to my privacy. That, and I don’t use iChat.
But in hoping that it’d do the job, I ran an ls on the Extensions directory and pasted the results here: http://pastebin.com/m6641e9cf
Alright well first off you can delete “AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext” because that is known to give some people problems.
and secondly do you have an ApplePS2Trackpad.kext outside of your ApplePS2Controller.kext?
I only mention this because it gave me problems before and I never noticed it.
I could’ve sworn I already wrote this yesterday, but I guess it didn’t send.
I’ve now deleted AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext but all problems remain unchanged. Not too sure what you mean about the ApplePS2Trackpad.kext, I’m afraid.
Thanks.
Sorry I haven’t been able to articulate this well so here you go. That’s what I mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aESaFl4ewCI
Nope, no ApplePS2Trackpad in ApplePS2Controller.kext. Only one outside.
Many thanks for the video, though!
Well Jamie,
I think you don’t have proper shutdown because of the kext you need to get the display working because Osmac who happens to have a 1440×900 Inspiron 1525 doesn’t have proper shutdown as well.
In addition to this, if you start over the 2-finger scroll and delete the outside ApplePS2trackpad.kext and replace the ApplePS2Controller.kext with mine from the 2-finger scroll kext, you should be able to get tap-to-click and two finger scrolling working.
Hi,
First of all, great site for getting OS X up and running on the Inspiron 1525. As a fellow Inspiron owner (all be it a 1318 model), I’ve found your tips and solutions very informative! Since i have a different model laptop, I’m unable to use your provided dsdt.aml file, but was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing what exactly you edited in order to get the display working without sleep tricks? I’m hoping this will help me from relying on sleep tricks with my own dsdt file on my 1318 with X3100 graphics. Thanks in advance.
It’s a shame you can’t use my dsdt.aml but what I had to remove from the dsdt.aml was the following
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(TV) declaration (about 24 line)
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(CRT) declaration (about 24 line)
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(DVI) declaration (about 24 line)
Do you know how to compile your own dsdt.aml?
If you need a bit of help, this comment helps a lot http://www.dailyblogged.com/191/hackbook-running-mac-os-x-1056/#comment-1315
Thanks for the reply. Using your instructions, as well as the ones provided in your link, I’m almost there. I’m currently stuck at the point where I’m compiling the edited .txt file with the iasl command. After entering command, I get the following error message in Terminal:
Inspiron-1318:~ robert$ /Users/robert/Downloads/DSDT_Patcher1/Tools/iasl -ta dsdt_fixed.txt
Intel ACPI Component Architecture

Copyright (C) 2000 – 2008 Intel Corporation

Error 4068 – Could not open file “dsdt_fixed.txt” (No such file or directory)
The file exist, it’s in the Debug folder. I also tried moving it to various places in the DSDT_Patcher directory, but still keep getting that error message. Any ideas? Thanks for your help; I’m so close!
Never mind. I’m so stupid. I wasn’t entering in the path to dsdt_fixed file. That’ll teach me not to always follow directions so literally. Anyway, I’m happy to report it’s working flawlessly on my Inspiron 1318! Thank you very much for your assistance. Keep up the good work!
It took me a while to get it going the first time too, heh.
You’re welcome man, and thanks a lot for the donation! It’ll get me lunch for like 2 days!
Thanks!
No problem. I appreciated your help in the matter. On a side note, I just discovered that your AppleHDA kext works surprisingly well on my computer too. Much better than what I was using before (no mic, speakers not muting with headphones). You have already solved the majority of my issues with Leopard on this computer! Thanks again!
I could whip up a quick AppleHDA.kext if you have a codec or something that would work better with your laptop. What works with my AppleHDA.kext and what doesnt?
Sorry I didn’t find the “Donor Wall” plugin till this morning, You’re my first donor but aren’t on the wall
Thanks man, that’s very generous of you but you don’t have to go through the trouble. I recently got this notebook and only being used to hacking my AMD computer, I was a little hesitant on where to start. So far I’ve found this thread on Insanelymac most helpful:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=134510&view=findpost&p=954409
In that post is a link to the dell1318codec that alot people including myself have been using. Like I said earlier, unfortunately it’s not perfect, but I had no idea a different Inspiron model would work so much better. Right now everything appears to be working, except I don’t have a mic so I can’t test that. Right now this is more than enough for my needs.
I also posted in the aforementioned thread links to the necessary files and discussions on how to get better audio and video working on the 1318. I mentioned your site, so I hope it sends more praises your way.
P.S. I’m honored to be your first donator. Thanks.
Mr. Genaro:
I´ve been following your good advices since the Expresso Blog (Richard´s) days.
Nowadays, I´ve managed to get my 1525 on OSX by using Kalyway+Combo Update +Apple Download 10.5.4. So far I got Wireless, Sound, USB, Firewire, Video QE and such and Ethernet (got it today), and so on. I think it´s being a great breakthrough. I´m about to get the cardreader working soon, If I can. I decided to stop at 10.5.4 for my peace of mind
but…
Since I was able to get ethernet without having to fresh install iPC or XxX, I´d love to know if I can get the clamshell benefit on my current Kalyway 10.5.4.
And here comes the dumb question: Does iPC or XxX feature improvements that could make it a worthwhile fresh install? I mean, I´ve already have my apps running, you know, my music secuencer, my video editor and some other nice thingies.
Thank you in advance, and sorry for my english and the hassles.
uhh besides the regular security updates that come with 10.5.6 and all that I would say that the benefits of having iPC or XxX would be that you have less conflicting .kexts which means less problems.
You can use clamshell on any of the versions but I would say you should install these two kexts http://macyourpc.com/2009/03/10/dell-inspiron-1525-hackintosh-ipc-guide/comment-page-1/#comment-305 found in that comment and you should be good.
Mr. Genaro:
That was a fast reply.
I´ll be “kexthelping” those two in a while.
In the meantime, as soon as I have a whole day off, I´d go for a fresh install
of XxX or iPC. Which one do you recomend? I´ve seen your iPC post, so I figure out
which one you prefer.
So, if my mental retardation doesn´t show already, you say that those two .kexts
will allow me to safely close my 1525´s lid without a “backpack meltdown”
THANKS again.
That is correct, but if you’re doing a fresh install you should just follow my guide and you’ll be alright, but uhh I believe you should probably install clamshell.kext too.
I forget if superhai integrated clamshell into his last kext so…. kexthelper clamshell.kext too.
Went to Superhai´s site but I couldn´t find the “clamshell.kext”.
Any hint?
Thanks again.
Here you go http://macyourpc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/clamshelldisplaykext.zip
Thank you.
I´m on another computer. And the 1525 is repairing permisions after kexthelping the Kexts you provided me.
Just another thing… I can´t seem to have any file to replace on my Mac HD when copying the DSDT.AML for the sleep trick rid of (kinda…), although I´m SURE I´ve installed Chamaleon…
Sometimes you might not see the file but when you paste the new dsdt.aml it will prompt you to replace the old one. Try it
You rock, Mr. Genaro.
Although I didn´t have anything to replace when I copied the new dsdt.aml to
the Mac HD, I restarted, and bang. No more sleep trick.
I also tried the clamshell procedure you mentioned. And, yes… I got sleep and I was able to
come back by opening the lid.
Funny thing, I don´t have the double tap support on the trackpad while when I came back from sleep. I have to use the button… but, as soon as I restart, it comes back again.
Well, I suppose I can´t deny I´ve been lucky to recieve your support.
I really wish you a nice afternoon and night. Thank again, I really mean it.
PS: I´ll let you know when I fresh install iPC 10.5.6
Awesome work, my friend. My 1525 is working like a charm with Mac.
Sometimes, I do face a problem with sleep. When I click “sleep” under apple menu, the mouse disappears and 1525 doesnt go to sleep. I meant the display remains on even if i close the lid and what I have to do is manually shutdown the 1525. Again, this happens occasionally.
Can you help me on this one?
Thanks again
As recommended above to get sleep working you should try to install the two kexts from here and repair your disk permissions.
http://macyourpc.com/2009/03/10/dell-inspiron-1525-hackintosh-ipc-guide/comment-page-1/#comment-305
If you follow my two-finger trackpad guide you might be able to fix that but a quick fix is to open your “System Preferences” and go to the “Trackpad” preference pane and then check and uncheck “Clicking” and you should be good to go.
Feel free to show some gratitude and get a man some food
if yah have some to spare.
Hey, I try and copy the DSTD.aml and replace it with the one in Macintosh HD and it says I don’t have sufficient privileges. I am the Administrator how do I get past this?
Spencer try deleting the dsdt.aml file before placing the new one in, if the file is hidden open up terminal and run this
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder
Now go try to delete it and put in the new one and then run this to hide the system files again if it doesnt work the first time quit finder and try it.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
killall Finder
Thank you very much! i’ve managed to get everything working just fine… including my spanish keyboard! but i have a question… sometimes when i get into mac… my wallpaper gets all blue… and does not show any picture… also when i logon my screen flashes (like its going to sleep and return rapidly) can you help me with this? i know that is not very relevant to the overall functionality (i use mac to develop flex systems)
again.. thanks! greetings from Argentina sorry for my poor english
The screen flash is common and is expected to happen.
When your screen turns blue it comes back later yes? Like it’s just loading?
The quick flash on startup is just what happens when it is loading.
Your english is great, I would have never guessed that you were from Argentina.
hehe thanks… yes it does come back… but sometimes the background does not load the wallpaper… it stays blue… ive tried changing wallpaper but its the same.
Its not very important… but is anoying.. and random.
Another question… in my system information.. my X3100 shows display 1280×800… that means is not compatible with 1440×900 resolutions?
Do you have any “sleep tricks” installed previous to this?
Did you buy the 1440×900 display?
1) MMm dont think so… dont really know… how can i tell?
2) Nop.. hehe.. i dont really need it
The dsdt.aml file is causing a kernel panic not sure why. Here is the screenshot
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj100/interix5/IMG_0104.jpg
Looked around through whats been posted and haven’t found anything relating to this. There wasn’t an old dsdt.aml file present to be overwritten but I figured this was not a problem. I also did not install any video kext as everything including QE/CI works. Any suggestions?
I don’t believe it’s the dsdt.aml causing the panic, Try to boot into your iPC davd and install the ACPI fix and try to boot, remember when you do this you have to unclick everything other than the ACPI Fix. Remember to boot with “-v -f” after this.
So all the kext work, Full graphic support ect. but as soon as I place the dsdt file it causes that panic, I even tried an install where I placed the dsdt only without any kext and it causes this error so I know for a fact that the kernel panic is caused when I use this dsdt.aml
I tried the ACPI fix both with just installed that package only into an already installed system and also a fresh install. I’m almost certain we have identical 1525s so I’m not sure what could be affecting the dsdt.
I was thinking make my own then remove those lines you said you took out in a previous post, but I figure it would probably be the same as what I have now.
Ok I did a last reinstall and redownloaded the drivers and I get some yellow ACPI related text when booting now. It starts up with fine.
Thanks for that suggestion. Your help is much appreciated.
Amazing work Genaro !!! Sadly… it didn’t worked completely for me. I had Icons on my desktop sometimes but NOT all the times (wich is the reason I get your guide). I have a DELL 1525 with iDeneb 10.5.6…. So this is what I did…
I didn’t have Chameleon installed… so before doing anything I installed Chameleon. (I still had the sleep trick working). I reboot and chameleon worked fine. My hackintosh turned on with the Automatic Login OFF, so I logged in. Desktop image and icons were there. Everything fine so far.
After that reboot, I copied your dsdt file into the MAC HD. NO dsdt file was previously there and when I placed yours in the HD the system didn´t ask for replacing any file or anything. Then I enable Automatic Login, then disable Active Screen Corner with “Sleep Display” and reboot.
At reboot, automatic login worked but the screen flashed blue and black twice and stayed black for 3 seconds. Horrible thing. The desktop appeared and it was completely blue, my desktop image was gone and also my desktop icons were gone.
I don´t know what to do or what I did wrong. Can you help me pleaseeeee. Thank you so much for you amazing work, time and effort !!!
Eduardo,
From Perú
It’s because of your sleep trick, do you know what sleep trick you used? You have to completely get rid of it! I wont be back for another 2 hours but try to completely get rid of any sleep trick you used and then give it a shot.
Thanks for your quick reply !!… I used the sleep solution contained in the “Antialyas” guide “How to install 10.5.6 on Dell 1525 – iDeneb v1.4″ STEP 3 of the second list. Which you can see here:
http://antyalias.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/how-to-install-1056-on-dell-1525-ideneb-v14/
As it says:
“UPDATED 9/3/2009 Downlod Screen_Sleeper_Solution_Installer.pkg. Install it and reboot. u have to disable auto login on system preferences to get it works. Thanks to Skribbler.”
What I wonder is how can I remove the files this package installed on my system ???? So in that way your dsdt solution can work. Please, would you help me telling me how to do it ???
By the way, besides I have discover that I do not have anymore the option TRACKPAD in my “Mouse” System Preferences, so I can not use my trackpad double finger pressing on the trackpad anymnore. I have to use the button. Is ther any solution you can help me with for this ??
Thanks for all your help !!!
Eduardo
To get the trackpad working follow my first step on this post. http://macyourpc.com/2009/03/11/two-finger-scrolling-on-your-hackintosh/
I’m unsure as to what the screen_sleeper installs or runs therefore I can’t help too much but what you can do is disable auto-login and the icon problem wont happen. I would say that you can go ask over at Antialyas, I know there are a few guides posted over there. Perhaps there is support. I’m sorry I couldnt be more helpful.
Ok no problem with the login option. I hope I found you guide before installing that Sleep trick.. ! my mistake. Thanks again for your help.
Eduardo
What you can try is making another user account and see if the sleep trick was only installed to your current account.
Genaro, it would be great if you could help me with this.
When I did the sleep trick I used this patch: “Screen_Sleeper_Solution_Installer.pkg”. Because of this, I have no idea of where or what to clean on my mac HD.
ps.: I don’t have a previous dsdt.aml file in my hd. Is there any problem?
The previous 5 comments deal with the same thing, I’m unaware of what this package installs and I don’t have time to figure it out completely, I’m really sorry. You can go ask antyalias as it seems this is where most of you got this tip from.
You can install the dsdt.aml and disable auto-login if you’d like or you can open up to package with “Pacifist” and look around at what it installs.
Genaro: Sorry we bother you with questions about others “solutions” found somewhere else. I think we should stick to ask you about the great solutions you provide here. I think that bringing advices or solutions (even from somewhere else) about a common problem to a topic of yours can be good, but I think I did wrong in asking you to give me solutions from problems found somewhere else, like if you were responsible for the problems we get into from solutions found somewhere else… for that I apologize.
I have a question that I hope you can help me with. I am trying to press F8 after selecting MAC in Chameleon, to be able to insert the -f command, but the darwin boot loader never appears to give me that option. If I press F8 before Chameleon, it just give the option to select which primary partition I want to boot from.
Thanks again,
Eduardo
You shouldn’t feel sorry for any of that and normally I would have time to help you guys out but currently I have a lot of school stuff to do and I’m a bit overwhelmed and can’t look through the installer.
To boot on chameleon 2 with -f just press f8 and then type -f you’ll see it appear at the bottom of the screen. or you can press the down key. and options will appear.
To both of you, try this. Open terminal and type
sudo -s
*enter your password* and then run these
rm -rf /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools
rm -rf /System/Library/LaunchAgents/org.nawcom.Sleep_Login.plist
Yes
…. I came here exactly to tell Eduardo how to do this…
I installed pacifist and and discovery those files. I also deleted:
System>Library>LaunchAgents>org.nawcom.ResDaemon.plist
and
usr>bin>cscreen
usr>bin>RedDaemon
I think it’s OK now.
On startup the screen goes black just one time (switching between apple loading and login screen). And now the login wallpaper appears (it was a blue solid before).
Thanks one more time Genaro!
Now I have to solve:
- “trackpad tapping” disabling with system sleep…
To get trackpad tapping after sleep one of the users did this
http://macyourpc.com/2009/03/11/two-finger-scrolling-on-your-hackintosh/comment-page-1/#comment-241
Could it be traces of a sleep fix? I don’t understand how this is possible, the sleep function int erfere on the trackpad and make it don’t work right. I don’t think that avoid FFScroll and make a script (as the user did) is the best way to solve this.
Genaro, what kexts on the extensions folder have relation with sleep function?
Thanks by the way…
This is deeper than a sleep problem, it’s still unknown as to why the function comes back for some and not for others, I’m using the same kexts as the ones found here.
The thing with dsdt.aml does not work I still do not see my icons nor the wallpaper on my desktop
I have found that Icons or desktop image are always dissapearing in a non stable way after any installation or change in the system. All I do is I go to the DISK UTILITY and REPAIR PERMISSIONS, then reboot and problem solved.
Hope it helps.
THANKS ! this worked.
I instaled 10.5.6 XxX with Chameleon and DSDT patch enabled
booted into framebuffer mode
[1] turned sleep off and options power sleeps computer off (I never use these, i’m an “always
on” type of laptop user)
removed the dsdt.aml chameleon put there, and overwrote it with yours
copied all my 10.5.7 GMA kexts and installed them
wow it works. amazed.
The only problem is
Core Image: Software
Quartz Extreme: Not Supported
I downgraded my 10.5.7 GMA kexts and went to
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=162431&st=0&p=1134946&#entry1134946
and used his Archive.zip (archive of GMA kexts from 10.5.6) so now I am
hardware accelerated
can somebody provide me dsdt.aml for inspiron 1520, its very similar to this laptop and my graphics card is GMA X3100 or if anybody can help me generate this file for my laptop. I also want to get rid of sleep trick. Please everybody help me in this.
You can generate your own dsdt by following these instructions
1) Download DSDT patcher by fassl ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=133683 ).
2) Doubleclick the DSDT Patcher file, follow the instruction there, i think i had to choose either mac, vista or something else, pick mac
3) once it’s done, a dsdt_fixed.txt file will be created in the debug folder.
4) open the dsdt_fixed.txt file and search for the following
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(TV) declaration (about 24 line)
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(CRT) declaration (about 24 line)
Under Device(VID) remove the Device(DVI) declaration (about 24 line)
5) once you remove those lines, save the file.
6) open terminal, drag the file name iasl (in the tool folder) into terminal, a path of the file iasl will appear in terminal, then you hit space and type “-ta dsdt_fixed.txt” (w/o quotes), and hit enter
example: ../Tools/iasl -ta dsdt_fixed.txt
7) then type “sudo cp ” (no qutoes) and drag the file dsdt.aml in the terminal, the path of the file dsdt.aml wil appear in terminal, then you hit space and type “/” (w/o quotes)
example: sudo cp dsdt.aml /
DSDT.aml file is on the very top of this page, if the hardware is the same as the 1525 it should work.
Hey guys, can you help me?
After a long time using my inspiron hackintosh with absolutely no problem, these days I got some problems. Sometimes I go sleep tonight and leave my notebook on, then when I wake up the other day and open the lid, the screen is black an nothing respond (the only way is force shutoff and turn it on again).
It’s weird, because I’m using this sleep solution (with DSDT.aml) and all this time I didn’t have NO ISSUE, until now.
Anyone know sonething about this?
Thanks
