Anyone who’s having trouble with booting from the disk, clean your disk drive.
Eject it, then just use a tissue paper to clean it, make sure you get the laser/ sensor

According to this guide I have installed OS X 10.5.6, than I installed the 10.5.7 Combo Update (from Apple web site), and than the 10.5.8 CU (same). After that I installed the extensions (drivers) from the package “Dell 1525 Driver_update_2009_05_27″ – very easy! Now everything works: wifi, video 1280X800, sound, Ethernet, usb, bluetooth, power management… I didn’t try the Time Machine yet… And what, I think, is the main advantage of all this is that I can use almost every software, because if a Mac version exists and if it is supported by Leopard (10.5), the maximum version that the soft will ask is 10.5.8 )) …I think with S Leo it is not quite the same, cause there is a stable version 10.6.2 …and the official Apple version 10.6.3 ))

okay guys…
i have a:
dell inspiron 1525
1.86-1.87 GHz intel pentium dual-core processor
running windows 7 with 2 gigs of ram
i have tried to install iAtkos v7 multiple times, but when it booted the screen flashed white and then goes to black…
NOW i tried to install iPc OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final via this guide.
IT DID NOT WORK AND SCREWED UP MY COMPUTER.
I made an 80g partition for mac and when i installed it onto that partition and started my comp. it said boot error: 0
I could not boot into windows 7 even tho windows 7 existed on my machine, so i had to reinstall my entire system . never trying this ever again.

BTW this was my sisters computer and it was for the sake of her. i already have a macbook so i’m not too pissed

JRG2322: OK, I’m also having a sleep issue on battery.The second time I put the computer to sleep, the screen does not go black and I lose keyboard and touchpad and I need a hard reboot.No problems at all with the first sleep/wake or when plugged in.Is something happening during the first wake under battery power that would cause this?

Fixed the sleep issue. I guess it's a common problem with 10.5.7 that I was having on 10.5.6. I've been searching hackintosh threads blaming a 1525/OSX compatibility problem. Turns out it's an Apple problem. I never activated my ethernet port as I'm only using wifi. For some reason, if the ethernet port is inactive, you get this sleep error. Just activate the ethernet port and all is right with the world. Hopefully Gregs sees this. Easy fix (hopefully it continues to work)

Thanks Stitch for a quick reply. You won’t believe i spend 3 full days on getting it work using different methods/guides available over the internet before giving up. I too assume that it was because of me already having Win XP.

Mine was a fresh installation, using the whole HD. Your issue has something to do with the order you´ve installed the Operating systems.. Have you tried to invert the order?. (first OSX, then XP, and the boot (grub or sth like that)

Maybe you can try to see if, just in the 4 step, without trying to sleep the computer, pluging an external monitor you can see something, and you can finish the installation.

Anyway, about the order, there are several people that has installed dual and triple boot, and as I can remember, most of the problems has much to do with the order. You can see this in insanely mac.

I assume you don´t install any of the drivers for X3100 in the first steps, because this can ruin your installation.

Other option is to forget windows…I did it, and I really don´t miss it at all…

@ Stitch: Just a quick question. Did you installed on your Dell with no Operating System to start with and on a Blank formatted Hard drive???? As when i tried installing (with Win XP already on a different partition) MAC OSX on a partition didn’t had any luck.

Hi all!. It seems i´ve been succesful with this. The guide is almost perfect. Only one thing, especially for those people having problems in step 4: you have to boot the system, with -v -f, the screen gets blank, an then, YOU HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT ONE MINUTE, just till the activity of the computer slows down. You can see this because the second light on the left (HD Activity), blinks almost nothing. Then, unplug the computer (I guess this is no necessary, but…), and close the lid. The computer starts some activity, and then, gets sleep (The activity almost stops), and the power led starts to “breath” (less than one minute between closing the lid and start “breathing”). Then, you can plug the cord and open the lid. And you are in.

I tried this on an inspiron 1545 and the wireless drivers aren’t working, i’ve followed all the steps very carefully. How can i get audio to work do i need to download something else excluding your driver package?

Is it safe to do updates after this install or are there normally tweeks I need to work through after an update?
