Dell Hackintosh 1525 Drivers

These are all the drivers you need to get your Dell Inspiron 1525 up and running along with the programs that will allow you to utilize the drivers. If you have any questions feel free to comment below.
All of the content provided below can be attributed to the hard work of many individuals at the insanelymac forums. My hats go off to all of you. With that being said, let it be noted that none of the material provided below originated from this website and all credit can be attributed to their rightful creators/modders.
can you make the card reader work?
If you look in the driver pack there is a folder titled SD Cardreader, open that up and drop that file into “Kexthelper” and then click “advanced” then “tag cache rebuild” and “run” and you should be good to go.
You might have to repair disk permissions through “Disk Utility” but after that the card reader should be up and running.
In regards to the card reader though, make sure you eject the disk from your desktop before manually removing the card or it will make your system freeze.
I have tried at least 5 times to get my card reader working in my 1525. I get no errors when installing and have done a disk permissions repair but my card is still not recognised… any ideas?

Have you looked at my newest post? You will probably have to install IOPCIfamily.kext with it.
i install kaliway 10.5.2 on my inspiron 1525 and update to 10.5.6. everythings work fine exept my Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 (usb sound card, when i try to play music it very rustles) and vidio card x3100 (i want to install logic pro, but he wont video card with quartz extreme)
I tried to find decisions of the problem but to what has not come. Somebody knows what driver to me are necessary?

It’s okay, well for Native Instruments Audio I’ve heard that the rustling is actually a problem with macs sometimes you’d have to adjust your “latency” I believe or at least that’s what happens in Traktor Pro.
Are you saying that you do not have quartz extreme?
In my experience if that’s the case your best bet is to reinstall and follow my tutorial. If you do that you’ll have everything working fine.
What language do you speak?

problem with audio kontrol1 both in itunes (i think that matter is not in a latence).
i speak in russian.

Spencer, go over to my iPC post and download the driver pack. Go into the driver pack and install the 10.5.6 power management fix.

its not a latence because sound seems to work fine sometimes (2 times on my remember)
i try to reinstall soon and watch.
maybe ipc is better than kaliway, i try to install ipc soon.
DEFINITELY, iPC is greater than Kalyway though I really appreciated Kalyway installation with which I started off MAC OS X experience. But iPC seems to recognize better your hardware and accommodates much easier with any kext installed than kalyway.

Hi…. I am having problems connecting my samsung lcd tv to the hdmi port on my 1525. When I choose detect displays the screen on my laptop goes black.

HDMI port is non-functional at this point, sorry. I have yet to read anything or see anybody who has been able to get them to work.

Be sure you have Chameleon 1.0.12 (i.e. Netkas version) then you can even install OSX on a logical partition.
Lookup my comment on the dailyblogged site (March 15) which explains how to dual boot Vista and OSX without a need to repair using the Vista install DVD and without any fixes needed for HFS+ errors.
Maybe I should put that in an article here.

I did’t manage to make my microphone to work. Is a special driver for mic or is included in AppleHDA.kext ? Does the mic work?
to get the microphone working you need to kext helper both the HDAenabler.kext and the AppleHDA.kext

does anybody tried to use the two headphone out’s jet? i’ve run to this problem last night. we’ve got sound only in the first plugged in headphone. it did not matter if it was the left or right jack. is there a sound driver what fixes this?
I’m sorry to say but it is impossible to get sound out of both at the same time in osx because mac doesn’t support multi-channel out. I tried to get it working for months but you can only use 1 at a time.
Can we do software update from Apple? Does the software update harm my iDeneb 10.5.6 ?
Most software updates wont harm your install the only ones that will are whole system updates such as when they update to 10.5.7. All other software updates you can do.

thank you for your excellent guide. I’m pretty new to this, and I’v managed to get most of my stuff work – audio, video, internal mic, and wireless. I seem to be facing an issue with the SD reader though.
I did use the Kexthelper, and dropped both the files in it. Then ran the installation. The installation was clean, post which it asked for a reboot.
Am assuming that the disk permissions needed to be done prior to the reboot. I did open the disk utility, but it showed my my existing hard drive and dvd drive only. Was it supposed to show me the SD card drive too?
Do I need to run the repair permissions on the existing hard drive itself? I carried this out too, and then rebooted, but the SD card reader is still not visible.
As you can see, I’m quite new at this, and would appreciate your help in resolving this.

You won’t be able to see the card reader as a mounted drive. When you put an SD card in it will pop up on the desktop like when you put in a flash drive. You simply have to repair permissions on the HD where os x is installed.

Thanks for the speedy response Genaro. I guess the principle is similar to that of when I insert a cd in the drive – the icon pops up on the desktop.
The issue that I’m facing is this:
- I’ve added both files to Kexthelper and then carried out ‘advanced’ -> ‘tag cache rebuild’ -> Run, it.
- It completed all the requisite steps and said that it needs a reboot.
- I rebooted and carried out repair disk permissions on ‘machintosh HD’ as well as even it’s parent ‘ 149 GB samsung HM….’ (Infact I did this step before rebooting as well as after too)
- on inserting an sd card from my camera, it still doesn’t pop up an icon on the desktop
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you positive that your card from your camera is an SD card? because SD and SDHC are the only things that work on the card reader. Your card reader should be working at this point so I would have to say that perhaps your card isn’t functional/ isn’t an SD card? I know some cameras have XD cards.
I believe in the bios that the wifi switch can be configured to turn off the SD card? Maybe that’s it? I could be wrong about this though.
If you have any other SD cards besides the one in your camera I would say you should try and use those and see if that is the case. Please let me know what happens.

The other issue that I am facing right now, is that I’m unable to access any of my usb pen drives or my external usb hard drive. I’ve formatted one of the pen drives into Fat 16 and the other into Fat 32, but no luck.
Also, my external Hard disk is NTFS. Is there a way I can access it’s contents from my Hackintosh?

In terms of getting OSX to recognize a NTFS partition the cheapest way to do it would be to use NTFS-3g it should work flawlessly.

After some Software update (Aiport utility too), my aiport stoped working. Tried to reinstall the driver but after reboot still “No airport card installed” error message
My problem was solved by reinstalling the driver “bcm43xx_enabler_0.5.3.sh” downloaded from InsanelyMac Forum. Thanks

try switching the settings for ethernet to DHCP (auto), unplug your power supply, restart your system (keeping the power supply unplugged) and try loading safari. For some reason I noticed that when having the power supply plugged in and the computer goes into sleep mode or stand-by the IP settings get all screwy. If it works then plug in your power supply. BUT before you close the laptop be sure to unplug again otherwise your problem will come back…

I did choose USB mountfix during installation. I also ran the zip file that you provided the link to, once again, just to be sure – but no luck.
Interestingly, I noticed a peculiar issue – not sure if others too have faced this. I tried connecting my Dell USB wired mouse to the hackintosh. If I push the usb plug all the way in, into the port, the mouse just sits dead, but if I push it partially in, the red light in the base of the mouse, glows, though the mouse is still non-operational.
Same is the case for a pen drive too. Partial push, into the port gives me a working light on the pen drive (though the OS still doesn’t show it on screen), while a full push, turns the light off !!!
Quite peculiar.
Any suggestions?

Are you sure that your usb port are operational and that it isnt a hardware issue? Because normally the usb ports work automatically.
Yes, I’m quite sure they should be operational. At least they were in Vista and Kalyway that I had tried installing earlier on.

was tweaking around yesterday, and finally figured out the USB issue !!!
On your site, there exist two zip files with drivers for the 1525:
1. hackintosh-drivers1.zip: This is available through the post “Dell Inspiron 1525 Hackintosh iPC Guide”
2. 1525-drivers.zip: This is available through the post “Dell Hackintosh 1525 Drivers”
I was using the zip from the first post (hackintosh-drivers1.zip), and in that I ran all kexts except IOUSBFamily.kext.
That seemed to do the trick. Its only when the IOUSBFamily.kext is run, that my usb ports cease to function.
Of course, had to reinstall a couple of times to try out this trial and error process, but am happy that I’ve figured it out now. Thanks Genaro.
On a different note, is there a way to roll back a kext installation?

Sadly there is no way. Unless you have a previous backup.

Close the lid and unplug the power and wait till you see the power button “breathe” or slowly go on and off and then open up your laptop.

You don’t need to install any other graphics driver because the macbook has a x3100 so you can use apples. If you follow my guide everything works fine…

Unplug the power and plug it back in and check it out. Sometimes voodoobattery.kext doesn’t update correctly till you uplug the ac and plug it back in.

Can you download my driver pack and then go into the “Misc” folder and double-click the “Broadcom.pkg” and everything should work.

The dell mini 10 doesnt work and the asus does but to be honest with you I would buy the lenovo s10 it works the best out of all the netbooks and I will be purchasing one soon as well.

Recently it has stopped seeing the BR-ROM drive that worked perfectly is there a way to reload the .kext (do you know which one it is?) or i hear rumours that 10.5.7 has BD support could this fix the issue?
You can try to install 10.5.7, it might work, if not go to my new post http://macyourpc.com/2009/05/30/common-problems-on-dell-inspiron-1525-hackintosh/ and install the IOPCIFamily.kext which might help.

Hey!! So problem…. Whatever I do I cannot!! Get airport to recognize my wifi card! Everything else is working. I used your pack and installed it also tried using the script to patch it, but it will not show up!! Any ideas!?
Try to run the script twice, if this doesn’t work then you could possibly have a different network card. You can check you specs by going to dell.com and entering your service tag which will tell you what you have in your computer. You may have a 3945abg card, if that’s the case then you are gonna have to read about the most recent developments for it. You can find them here

I’ve got Hackintosh running on my Inspiron 1525. I have everything besides the mic working. I’ve reinstalled the kexts multiple times, but no luck. Any advice?
Go into system preferences and open the sound tab and check which mic is selected. try both of them if there are 2.
